Communication from Executive Committee, March 13, 2020

Brothers and Sisters of Graafschap Church,

As many of you are well aware, there is currently a nationwide pandemic, commonly known as COVID-19, or the coronavirus. Furthermore, as you may know, the Governor has called for the closure of all K-12 schools through March, all in an effort to stem the tide of transmission. Faith-based organizations have also been encouraged to consider closures, including Sunday worship and weekly activities. The Classis Holland Executive Team has also recommended this action. As difficult as it is, and as much as we would rather not do this, especially during Lent, we feel that the responsible thing to do is to abide by those recommendations and cancel all worship services and weekly activities through March 29. Specifically, there will be no morning or evening worship services on March 15, 22, and 29. All weekly activities will either be cancelled or postponed, including the Monday evening men’s Bible study, the Wednesday night dinner and activities, miscellaneous Bibles studies, youth meetings, the knitting group, and the scheduled Women’s Refresh & Renew event. The Executive Committee and the Council will meet at their scheduled times; however, other committee meetings, unless it is absolutely vital that a meeting take place, are recommended not to meet. That said, if the nationwide health situation changes significantly (for the positive) we will, most certainly, reinstate worship services and weekly activities.

Please know that during this period, the Pastor, the Elders, and the Deacons will be available for any needs you may have. Pastor Phil plans to continue to keep office hours. Cindy also plans to be in the office, at least Monday-Thursday, 9am-noon (if that changes, we’ll let everyone know). More than anything, please remember that our God is on His throne – He is the Master of this Universe. We can trust Him and know that not only does He have everything under control, but also that His love for us and this world is beyond the scope of our imagination.

Continue to pray for each other; pray for those who work in health-related fields; pray for a sooner-than-expected end to this pandemic. Check on your neighbors. Be the hands and feet of Christ where He has placed you.

We focus on Jesus Christ

Our purpose on this earth is to make much of Jesus Christ. If you're new to Graafschap, we would love to get to know you better. We used to be

Completely Broken

We used to be completely broken. But now are grateful for undeserved redemption, astonished by GOD'S AMAZING GRACE, healed by forgiveness, humbled by the reality of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. The realization of this truth is what inspires us to worship our risen Savior - Jesus Christ, for he alone is worthy of all our praise

"but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love."

Ephesians 4:15-16

We serve

The perfect God

We serve a good and PERFECT God. The nations are His dwelling and our lives are His vessels. We have compassion for the poor, and our hearts are open to the rich. We Believe God wants to prosper those who believe and are generous for His purpose. There are many ways to get involved with serving at Graafschap. Whether you give financially, or give with your time, gifts and talents, we encourage you to be generous and spread the word of God in every way you can. Visit our "Ministry" page to check out our current serving opportunities.

Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."  And he went outside and wept bitterly

Matthew 26:75

We are

Real People with Real Sin...

We are real people infused with dynamic faith, committed to a common vision, joined together in the covenant love of our Creator. We believe in multicultural, multi generational ministry, who’s sole intention is to reach our community for Christ. We firmly believe that you should come as you are to the feet of Jesus, for he is capable of transforming a broken and contrite heart into a blooming soul that brings Him joy. Our gatherings are a blended style of traditional and contemporary - and we make it a priority to focus our attention on God's Word and to give Him all the glory in everything we do.
